台灣盆栽文化價值之探討

Research on the cultural values of Taiwan bonsai

摘要

   台灣植栽種類繁多，而盆栽是自然界景觀的微觀，因此許多民眾喜好於庭園造景或於室內擺設。盆栽的文化起源於日本，已有數百年的歷史，德川家康時期的盆栽至今尚保存良好，顯示日本人對於盆栽文化的重視。

   而台灣的盆栽文化僅數十年的光景，相較於日本對於盆栽的重視，台灣盆栽的價值似乎只拘泥於買賣之間，而沒有創造出屬於台灣盆栽獨特的精神。台灣的樹種與日本不盡相同，日本盆栽大多以寒帶植物松、柏為主，而台灣地理位置較屬於亞熱帶地區，且民情風俗皆與日本不同，所以盆栽的價值性與保存性應該有所區別。

   盆栽是植栽的一部份，而植栽又是景觀不可或缺的重要元素之一。近年來，在討論景觀的研究中，大部分都在探討植栽的美質或空間配置等方面。諸如此類的研究，大多是從線與面的向度來做探討，而針對盆栽此單一元素來做討論的研究，可說是屈指可數。

   台灣盆栽有其獨特性，本文將針對台灣具有代表性的貴重盆栽，透過專家及文獻回顧來探討其獨特性及文化價值所在，冀望本文能提供台灣盆栽創作者更具思維的方向，也提供民眾在選擇盆栽時，更能發現其背後的文化價值與魅力。

Research on the cultural values of Taiwan bonsai

ABSTRACT

  There is a variety of plants in Taiwan bonsai. As a bonsai is a miniature of natural landscape, many people like to use it for gardening or indoor decoration. The bonsai culture originates in Japan . It has several hundred years of history. The bonsai plants grown in the period of Tokugawa Ieyasu are still perfectly preserved today. It shows that Japanese people value the bonsai culture.

  The bonsai culture of Taiwan has just several decades of history. If comparing with the bonsai which Japanese people seriously regard, the value of Taiwan bonsai is limited to the trading only. The unique spirit of Taiwan bonsai has not been created yet. The species of trees in Taiwan are not completely the same as those in Japan . Most of Japanese bonsai plants are the plants of Frigid Zone, such as pine and cypress. The geographical position of Taiwan is more close to the subtropical zone, and the feelings and the customs of Taiwanese are different from those of Japan . Therefore, the two countries should be different on the valuability and the conservation of the bonsai.

  The bonsai is one part of plant growing, and the plant growing is an essential element in

landscape. Over the past few years on discussing the landscape, most of the researches focus-

ed on the aesthetics and the space layout of plant growing, and most of the probes were made

based on the linear and plane dimensions. As to the research on single element “bonsai”, the

research cases were very few, and could be counted on the fingers of one hand.

  Taiwan bonsai has its unique characters. This essay will probe into the unique characters and the cultural values of the representative and valuable bonsai of Taiwan through the experts and the literature reviews. This essay is expected to be informative to the Taiwan bonsai creators. As to the general public, this essay is expected to be able to help them to discover the cultural values and the charm behind the bonsai when they make selections on bonsai.
